Welcome graphic

Hello, and welcome to the information site for the G1DFT Echolink internet gateway, located in Ainsdale, near Southport, 20 miles north of the city of Liverpool in the United Kingdom.
Select the information page for technical details on the gateway.
If you are in and around the Southport area, please make use of the gateway as often as you like.

Output power is 7dbW and aerial is a simple dipole.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SITE SOMETIMES RUNS EQSO IN 101ENGLISH

You can access the Echolink gateway on 430.0375MHz. A CTCSS tone of 79.7Hz is required.

So, here's how to use the system! Firstly, be aware this is a SIMPLEX node. Do not select your repeater shift. Also, no toneburst is required. If you do send a toneburst, the link will sit there quietly doing nothing. All commands to the system are accomplished by DTMF tone sequences. Also remember to set your CTCSS to 79.7Hz. Without this, the radio will not hear you. I regret having to use CTCSS but as I share the frequency with another node in the Manchester area it is necessary to minimise interference.

To connect to another node, key your transmitter and dial the node number and wait to be connected. A voice message will inform you of the progress of your call.

Other useful functions are as follows - 88* will read you a simple help file. 00* will tell you the accurate time. 99* will read the current weather for the area. 44* will give you a 7 day weather forecast although be advised this is a rather long file!

Please take a moment to visit the site of Mark, G4EID at http://irlp.g4eid.co.uk where you will find much useful information on the subject of internet linking in amateur radio.

If you're not sure where to start when dialling node numbers, here is an active list. http://www.echolink.org/logins.asp

In the event you don't possess a DTMF microphone for sending the control sequences you can click on the following link and you will be see a pad, that can be used from your computer. A sound card and speakers are obviously required...... http://www.dsptutor.freeuk.com/dtmf/TG102.html

Hand portable coverage - Ainsdale, Birkdale, Freshfield, Formby, Halsall, Scarisbrick

Mobile coverage - As above plus central Southport, Ormskirk and north Liverpool, Lytham St. Annes and parts of Blackpool.

Hours of operation - As close to 24 hours a day as the NoV will allow although Sunday to Friday is most likely.

My sincere thanks to Graham, G6WZO for donating a dedicated server on which to run the Echolink system.
